VERNON — The Vernon Chamber of Commerce last month presented Acme Markets with a plaque for “Best Presentation” at this year’s Taste of Vernon event.
Attendees at the May 1 food festival hosted by Heaven Hill Farm voted the Lamp Post Inn as winner of the “People’s Choice” Award.
Other eateries participating in the friendly competition included: Dairy Swirl, the Candy Apple Shoppe, the George Inn, Smokey’s Brick Oven Tavern, Drunken Cherry Restaurant, Milano’s Italian Restaurant, Gencarelli’s Restaurant, Healthy Thymes Market, Blissful Bites Cupcakes, Party Personnel, Vernon Valley Farm and Top of the Mountain Honey Farm.
A portion of the proceeds from this annual fundraiser will help the Vernon Coalition, whose vision is to develop the capacities of adults and children to sustain healthy lifestyles by providing services designed to foster addiction-free lives, emotional wellness, financial stability and safe communities.
The next Vernon Chamber of Commerce event is the 2017 Street Fair & Farmer’s Expo on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Main Street area will be closed to traffic that day and will become a fair-like atmosphere with local businesses, crafts and treats, in addition to children’s activities.
Space is still available for interested vendors; details and forms can be found at vernonchamber.com or call 973-764-0764.
